Stepping into your Power
Part of the way we care for people is to acknowledge individual worth and power and to enable individuals to exercise their rights. Democracies weaken when individuals do not realize their power or willingly give it up. Whether you need to hear this now - or in another four years don’t give up or disengage from the process. Don’t become despondent. Regardless of the boxes that you check, don’t check, or even fit into, YOU have the power, the right, and responsibility to create change in your community.

I let my son cut my hair, and...
The beauty industry is a 650 BILLION dollar beast with significant environmental impact. We are marketed and manipulated to feel like we have to look a certain way. The light beyond the screen
We don’t hold space for holidays because everything is right and well and easy. We mark these days because life is in fact not what we want it to be. But at the same time we believe and trust that it can get better- and will. Holidays done well help us remember to slow down, to see people, to embrace generosity and hold on to hope.

What changed your mind?
I cannot remember one link or forwarded email that has substantially changed my mind. These days, the media I digest through my phone, computer, or TV does little to persuade my thoughts. On the contrary, it’s self-selected and pre-programmed to affirm my inclinations rather than challenge them. An essay or poem by Wendell Berry will make an imprint. And a show, such as Ted Lasso, helps us all to “stay curious.” But more than ever, experiences and relationships are what transform and alter the way I think and feel.
